Don’t Give Up
So what makes you think God won’t step in and work justice for his chosen people, who continue to cry out for help? Won’t he stick up for them? I assure you, he will. He will not drag his feet. But how much of that kind of persistent faith will the Son of Man find on the earth when he returns?
Luke 18:6-8 MSG
Right now, Lord, I’m tired.
The summer is hot and dry and our emotions are on edge. We’re tired of politics and national debt and health care woes. Tired of trying to be more and do more and get ahead.
It’s like trying to hold back the tide in the middle of a storm.
The enemy wants to wear us out. I can feel it. He wants us to lose heart and walk away.
To doubt that our drawn-out summer will ever end.
When I walked tonight, Lord, the humidity hung in the air. The heat lingers—I can’t get away from it. I’m longing for the autumn to come and break this oppressive heat.
Oh, bring the harvest, Lord! We are waiting to see it come in. To be refreshed again.
Tomorrow is another day. Another prayer, another sigh.
Strengthen, me, Lord, to be persistent in prayer in this perilous time. Help me to pray when the harvest is delayed. I refuse to let go of faith!
I know that You have a plan— and it’s for our good! So I’ll keep asking, Lord:
Restore our nation, and heal our land.
But most importantly, turn our hearts back to You!
Bring the harvest, Lord. I am waiting.
So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.
