Who is the Enemy?

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

Ephesians 6:10-13 NIV

The one behind all of this hate, Lord… it’s not who it seems.

Our enemy—the one who strikes matches of unrest and fans the flames of division—is hidden.

He’s the accuser of Your people and he deceives the world with lies.

But this is no surprise to us because Your word reveals the truth:

Our enemy is not flesh and blood.

So, Lord, help us stand firm in the spiritual battle. Help us be strong in Your power alone.

You’ve given us special armor—spiritual armor— to take our stand against this unseen enemy:

The belt of truth.
The breastplate of righteousness.
The shoes of the good news of peace.
A shield of faith to put out flaming arrows.
A helmet of salvation to protect my mind against doubt and lies.
And a sword… Your Word.

Remind us to pray in all things for Your people.

Lord, this is Your battle plan for perilous times:

To be strong in the Lord.
To put on the armor of God.
To pray in all things.

After all, Lord, it’s not our battle at all. It’s Yours.
And it’s already won.
