The Coming King
Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude, like the roar of rushing waters and like loud peals of thunder, shouting:
“Hallelujah! For our Lord God Almighty reigns.
Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory!
For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready.
Fine linen, bright and clean, was given her to wear.”
Revelation 19:6-8
Look up!
Such a strange thing to do in this perilous time.
To look up from the shouting, the rioting, the headlines of wars and threats.
To look up from the calamities and the endless political battles and everything that seems important in the here and now.
A King is preparing His return.
His eyes blaze like fire, and His robed is dipped in blood.
He will come to bring justice. To judge the nations and wage war.
His name is the Word of God, and in His mouth he carries a sharp sword.
His identity is written on his robe and thigh:
KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS
Watch! The kings of the earth and generals will gather for the battle, while birds gather for their carrion feast. The armies of Heaven will follow on white horses, gleaming in fine white linen. Then the wrath of the Almighty will be completed and the martyrs will reign with the King.
Oh, Father, I long to see Your Holy City—the new Jerusalem—descending from heaven in radiance. The City where You will dwell with us.
The tears I have shed in this perilous world will be but a memory. I’ll never say, “Goodbye!” again.
Lord, I hold fast to these promises even as the sky darkens above. Even in perilous times! When wars rage and all is but lost, I will look up. I’ll lean into the storm to listen for the sound of trumpets calling me home where I belong.
Look up! The King is coming!
He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.
Revelation 20:22 NIV
