Isaiah 61 tells us the reason that Jesus came. He came to:
Preach good news to the poor;
Bind up the brokenhearted;
Proclaim freedom for the captives;
Release prisoners from darkness;
Proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God;
Comfort all who mourn;
To provide for those who grieve, and to bestow on them:
A crown of beauty instead of ashes;
Gladness instead of mourning, and
A garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.
Oh, yes….He came for us.
And on Easter, we celebrate that He succeeded.
We are free.
Restored.
Released.
Comforted.
Provided for.
Crowned in beauty and gladness.
Wrapped in praise instead of despair.
Yes, He came. He lived. He loved. He suffered. He died.
And He rose again.
Happy Easter!
