Did you know that God wants to share wonderful revelations with His children?
This is true not only for spiritual leaders, such as pastors and persons in important positions, but also for parents, college students, grandparents, men, women, and even children who are sincerely seeking direction from the Lord. The Bible says:
Call to Me and I will answer you and tell you
great and incomprehensible things you do not know.
– Jeremiah 33:3:
In the following video, I share my personal method of hearing God speak through a journaling process that I use, and no, there’s nothing New Age-y about it!
It’s simply a process of praise, prayer, listening in a quiet time, then honoring God by writing down (journaling) what the Holy Spirit gives to me.
The Bible is the absolute litmus test in this process
God will never speak in a way that contradicts with His Word. In fact, Scripture flows through this writing process. It is alive and powerful, and able to equip you for whatever the day brings. Journaling in the Presence of God is truly precious.
In the following video, I describe my process of attentive journaling and how it helps me hear God speak. If you would like to know more about this method, please let me know by commenting on this post or using the contact form on the blog.

Scriptures referenced in this video:
Deuteronomy 30:19-20: “This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live and that you may love the Lord your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him.”
John 1:1: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
Psalm 23:4: “Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”
Acts 2:17: “In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.”
Matthew 9:37 “Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.”
11 The Lord said, “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by.”
1 Kings 19:11-14: “Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper. When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave.”
Genesis 12:3: “I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”

Hi! I found this very inspiring! I started on this journaling journey Dec 7, 2017. Since then I have been brought closer to the Lord and He DOES reveal things to us! I love Him and He is answering my prayers daily in His own way. He is revealing who I will be married too, a friend of mine. I can’t wait to see how God moves in this area of my life and hoping it comes to fruition soon. Journaling with Jesus is so inspiring and dare I say it, fun! Thank you for sharing!
Hi, Lee! I have treasured my journaling times with the Lord. Sometimes I just pour out my heart there. Often I just listen and wait on the Lord, Bible on my lap, for encouragement and hope. I also go back and date answered prayers… which is really amazing. In doing that, I see the many prayers that God has answered, and I experience God’s incredible faithfulness. I’m glad you wrote! Keep journaling with Jesus!
Hi, It is interesting to know how simple God speaks to man when you start journaling. I have appreciated my journaling times with the Lord. Everyday I put out my heart before God. Often I listen and wait on the Lord to speak back for direction. It is a wonderful experience.
