Post from “40 Prayers for Perilous Times” – Day 5

Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and the knowledge of God! How unsearchable His judgments and untraceable His ways! For who has known the mind of the Lord? Romans 11:33-34 (HCSB)

Who can know the mind of the Lord? And who can question His judgments?

How astonishingly beautiful are the secrets of the Lord! How intricate are the details Your plan!

Who am I to understand it? Who dares to question Your ways?

You make a vibrant garden from the dust of the earth.  You fashion a rainbow and place it in the clouds after a raging storm.

You take what is meant for evil and make it for good.

You cause our weakness to be our strength. You create stunning beauty from fragile ashes.

Your grace is limitless; it reaches to the ends of the earth! To every man, woman and child! Your offer of mercy extends to our broken places where we are confused and deceived.

Who am I to judge when only You know the hidden places of the heart?

Teach me, Lord, to have peace in the “not knowing.”

Sing over me and quiet my questions with Your spiritual song.

Remind me that I am not god. No! I was created to walk in your Light and bring You glory.

I was created to enjoy the presence of my God. Think of that!

You are at work, secretly, behind the headlines and the closed doors. When all seems lost and in your perfect timing, we’ll see the big reveal! Jesus!

Every knee will bow and tongue confess that Name … when our suffering will be like waters gone by.

Until that day, Lord. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
