Reaching your dream is a journey that begins the moment God whispers it to you, and sometimes the first step is the hardest one to take.
When the journey begins—as you take that first step towards a dream—you suddenly find yourself at the base of a great mountain. The scale of this mountain is enormous and the trail that leads to the summit is rocky at best. Standing at its base looking upward, thoughts of self-doubt begin to flood your mind.
Do I have the strength to make the journey?
When you are filled with disparaging thoughts— the ones that come frequently when you consider the weight of the dream that God has placed in your heart—you can find strength in one name:
Jesus.
You can become so overwhelmed that you are paralyzed with dread. Pushback can be so hard that you don’t know if you can take one more step towards that dream. In times like that, remember the name.
Today, God has whispered a dream that seems impossible to achieve:
Jesus.
In a home somewhere, someone is overburdened with the responsibilities of daily life and doesn’t know how to find the time to make it happen:
Jesus.
Right now, someone feels weak and small and invisible and is losing hope:
Jesus.
This evening, someone is measuring their strengths to those of someone else and is feeling inadequate:
Jesus.
Somewhere, someone has no idea how they will be able to do what God is calling them to do:
Jesus.
Don’t doubt the power in this name: Jesus. He is our Advocate. Our Author and Finisher. He gives us a New Song. His name alone makes the darkness flee. He looses chains and sets us free. In that name is the power over death itself.
If you are feeling weary, scared or overwhelmed, just remember the name of Jesus. I promise you, it is so much more than enough.
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
Getting back is shape. Exercising after a time of depression and healing, today’s is the day to begin again. The base of a mountain sums it up. Jesus help me.
YES! Thank you for this excellent reminder. The task God has set before me seems overwhelming sometimes and I start looking at the present circumstances instead of where the real truth is. Thanks again for the reminder. Sharing this one!
I am my own biggest obstacle. I keep trying to do it on my own strength! Thanks for the reminder that it is all HIM!
Getting that first contract… I need a agent – and the first book sold, edited, polished, finished, published and on the road to a new career.
Keep walking, Donna! Step by step! Blessings to you!
Kelly, thanks for the great reminder. There’s power in the name of Jesus! I feel better already.
